But before that, I'm going on with a very easy entry, the well known Western and Eastern food joint. Previously a chef at Renaissance, he then opened this restaurant, planning it to be a temporary thing... lol. However it doesn't look like so as the restaurant is jam packed every weekend.

One word of advise is, if you're planning to go on weekends, please go early, or make a booking. But I personally suggest weekdays :)

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Several failed attempts of trying to have dinner there occurred before we really did managed to have dinner there. (One of which was because they're closed on Friday)...

Overall, it was like a typical Chinese restaurant, except being run by Muslims and also the fact that they had a menu of fried rice like a typical Malay shop would have. No problem of being unable to read the menu (for me) because it was in BM...

They sell things like sizzling tofu, claypot chicken, lemon chicken, kangkung belacan, sharksfinsoup, fooyong tan (egg), kailan fried with garlic, etc etc

hotplate tofu with sauce and egg.
in a chinese restaurant, the meat topping would be pork with sauce and salted fish flavoured
here, its chicken,... not bad i'd say
<no>
</no>

this is szechuan soup. spicy after atste. its not bad,..

its got chicken filling, tofu, egg and herbs

fooyong tan, wish they had onions inside... =)

personally, this is my favourite dish, the veggies are very fresh and green and the garlic taste is strong enough though not overpowering. fried kailan. love this!!

this is good, kongpau fish (dry chilli sauce), i like this too, i would like to try this with chicken.. and the claypot chicken which was not available that day. :)

I would say that for a Muslim run Chinese cuisine shop, it gets the taste quite right. =) So for those who are really for Chinese food the Halal way, try Mukmin Restaurant.

All you need to do is to drive through the new straight road pass Bei Zhan (after the flyover after Mahkota - where you can see the Eye of malaysia) ... keep straight, and turn in right after the first traffic light. Its a new row of shophouses, not many shops are opened.

Taste Factor : 7/10
Cleanliness Factor : 8/10
Time Factor : 8.5/10
Service Factor : 8.5/10

Contact Information : 0196674942 <closed></closed>

a very rare breakfast out

Do you know how rare it is for there to be breakfast for certain group of people? Well, I fall under that category (minus the times I get forced by my parents away from my <s>siamesetwin</s> bed. You know, one thing about Melaka is, the breakfast food ain't too good. Yes, you have sprinkles of good ones here and there, but generally, breakfast in Melaka ain't that great (yes, that includes Chicken rice balls not being good).

Went for breakfast at a little stall opposite Caltex in Semabok. Most Malay cuisine sambal is sweet, so you can only expect it to be sweet. This one comes with just a little spice with it, so even non-spice tolerant people can have it. :) Not that bad la. I think its around Rm 2.50 for a bowl this.

Daniel had mee goreng for and lontong, it wasn't too greasy, which is good, and he gave two thumbs up to it. Just one of the places you can head to for breakfast if you feel like you want to go further than just the constrains of Bukit Beruang (for MMU Students that is)...

Taste Factor : 6.5/10
Cleanliness Factor : 7/10
Time Factor : 8.5/10
Service Factor : 7/10

Seng Kee Restaurant - Just 20 minutes away

Its just 20 minutes away from my house, and perhaps around 30 minutes away from the university (MMU Melaka). Students looking for a bargain away from the lame food of Bukit Beruang SHOULD try this place out if they have a car, or try to rent a car for 3 hours to have dinner here.

The pricing in this restaurant is superb, especially for those who always go to TC Spring and Lou Lou Sang, they'll find this a fresh breath of release as the food is actually mouthwatering when compared to the mediocre capitalistic Bukit Beruang stores (no offence but its true).

Personally, THIS dish is my favourite out of ALL the dishes. Its Claypot Chicken in Black Sauce. The ingredients incude ginger, black sauce, and parsley. Its so delicious and the sauce is so tempting. If they're 6 guys going, order for 10 just for this dish. No kidding. But this dish takes quite some time to prepare. So be patient.

Another amazing dish they have here is their keledek leaves fried with belacan. Its MUCH better than the kangkung belacan very honestly. The belacan is so good and the way it blends with the veggies makes the veggies soak perfectly in the sauce. Nyum.

Other VERY good dishes would be the hotplate tofu with minced meat. It really is good and accompanies the two above dishes very well. If you're feeling like you're willing to spent, try the steamed fish with chillies and garlic. Siimple dish, but extremely good. Its not as expensive as ordering fish in Bukit beruang, or in town area, so I would recommend you to do so.

The trick when it comes to this restaurant is either 1. go on weekdays or.. 2. order in advance. Either way I suggest you order at least an hour in advance before you leave for the place and give them estimated time of arrival, especially if you're ordering the claypot chicken.

Perfection should not be rushed.

I found pictorial direction to the restaurant. Its actually directions to another place but Seng Kee is used as a marker, so note picture 1. --> 6 of (http://www.simkoayen.com.my/chi_direction.htm) If you're coming from MITC direction, turn in just after the Go Kart, and go all the way straight till you come to a T-junction with the restaurant just in front of you.

37, Pekan Durian Tunggal, Durian Tunggal
Malaysia 76100
I've known people who've traveled a really long distance for good food. Since for me, it takes around 20 minutes to get to town without traffic jams, it makes no difference to take a 30 minute drive to the sleepy town of Machap. This town, is an unlikely haven for food since we were introduced to a restaurant here around 6 months back for dinner.

This restaurant is opened for lunch and only for lunch. Its not too big, but smells of processed rubber sometimes (sadly if u sit at the side)... Yet, its busy, buzzing with customers on a Sunday afternoon (we had lunch there today). Its just a stone's throw away from SRJK(C) Machap Baru.
